How simple have we made content distribution?
Turn on the CDN feature in the Cloud Files interface and copy and paste the link. No minimum commitments, programming, or even configuration files are required.
Content Distribution technology is what allows you to get media to your users fast: instantly deliver web pages, images, music, entire games and software packages—even HD video—to global audiences of any size. Using a content delivery network, however, can be complex and expensive. We just knew it didn't have to be, so we partnered with Limelight Networks to create the industry's simplest CDN experience.
Here's why Cloud Files storage with Limelight's distribution network makes for the easiest possible content distribution:
No programming required
You certainly can control the Cloud Files CDN programmatically, but it's not required. Using the same, simple web interface you use to upload content to Cloud Files, you can just right-click on any container and make its content publicly available across Limelight's CDN. At that point, a URL will be provided that you can use in your site or application. The whole process of CDN-enabling your containers takes only a few seconds.
Powered by Limelight's proven technology
Limelight Networks already makes global content delivery possible for MSNBC, Microsoft's XBOX, and the Dallas Cowboys. They've been a pioneer in the CDN space since 2001. This is the first time a major CDN has partnered with a cloud provider to create such an easy, complete storage-to-delivery solution for media content.
Simple pricing
All the public CDN bandwidth is 22¢ per GB, no matter where your end users are. We don't charge extra request fees for content served from the CDN endpoints. There are no bandwidth charges from Cloud Files to the CDN endpoints. (Amazon, by contrast, charges for bandwidth between S3 and the CloudFront CDN as well as a fee for requests from the CDN endpoints.)
Support included, free of charge
During our beta period, support for Cloud Files is available free of charge Monday - Friday, during normal business hours. After the beta period, 24-hour support will also be available.
APIs and code samples available
If you want to tie the CDN features of Cloud Files right into your application code, you can download the fully-supported code libraries Mosso has made available. In the libraries, we do the heavy lifting of communicating with the REST APIs, allowing you to continue to work natively in your favorite language. Libraries available for PHP, Python, Java, and .NET.
